The Wales Marathon Itinerary


There's loads going on at the Long Course Weekend - with the young talent competing in TAFF Kids and the professionals and amateurs challenging for the glory of being Long Course Weekend champion!

So we've made things simple for you... to work out where you need to be and when you can see the best of the action, simply check out our itinerary of events below.

Please be aware that the details below are based on 2017, and information may change closer to the event.


Thursday 12th July

12:00 - 8:00pm - Registration Open (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
Only the athlete themselves may collect their race number/goodie bag and will be required to produce photographic identification when registering.

We strongly urge anyone who is able to register on Thursday to do so. This will reduce queues and give you a more relaxed weekend!

3:00pm onwards - LCW Seminar Begins (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
We have a number of talks going on to give athletes the best advice and skills to help them have a fantastic race. Speakers will include Mark from Mike's Bikes, former Champion Marcus Hultgren, and 4 time Ironman Champion Lucy Gossage.

12:00 - 8:00pm - Sports Massage (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
15 - 20 minute massage sessions will be available.


Friday 13th July

10:00 - 8:00pm - Registration Open (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
Only the athlete themselves may collect their race number/goodie bag and will be required to produce photographic identification and a signed disclaimer when registering.

*Marathon athletes are welcome to register on Friday, but only Long Course and Swim athletes can register between 4:00-6:00pm.

10:00 - 8:00pm - Race Expo (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
The race expo is free to enter for athletes and the general public. It will showcase specialist swimming, cycling and running exhibitors and will be a great place to check out the latest products or update your kit.

12:00 - 5:30pm - Sports Massage (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
15 - 20 minute massage sessions will be available.


Saturday 14th July

5:30am - 8:00pm - Registration Open (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
Only the athlete themselves may collect their race number/goodie bag and will be required to produce photographic identification when registering.

*Marathon & Half Marathon athletes are welcome to register on Saturday, but priority will be given to Sportive athletes between 5:30-11:30am.

10:00am - 8:00pm - Race Expo (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
The race expo is free to enter for athletes and the general public. It will showcase specialist swimming, cycling and running exhibitors and will be a great place to check out the latest products or update your kit.

9:00am - 12:00pm - Sports Massage (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
15-20 minute massage sessions will be available.

1:00pm - 6:00pm - Sports Massage (St Marys Church Hall, Tenby - behind the race finish)
15-20 minute massage sessions will be available.

6:00pm onwards - Pasta Party (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)

Sunday 15th July

7:00 - 9:00am - Registration Open - The Wales Marathon athletes ONLY (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)

*All Marathon athletes MUST register at Tenby Leisure Centre on Sunday, unless they have already registered on Friday or Saturday.

7:00am - 10:00am - Sports Massage (Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, Tenby)
15-20 minute massage sessions will be available.

9:00 - 11:00am - Registration Open - The Wales Half Marathon athletes ONLY (Pembroke Castle)

*All Half Marathon athletes MUST register in Pembroke Castle on Sunday, unless they have already registered at Tenby Leisure Centre on Friday or Saturday.

9:30am - Half Marathon Coaches leave
Coaches will leave for Pembroke with Half Marathon athletes and supporters

9:45am - Marathon Briefing (Tudor Square, Tenby)
All athletes must attend the pre-event safety briefing.

10:00am - THE WALES MARATHON (Tudor Square, Tenby)
Athletes will begin The Wales Marathon from Tudor Square at 10:00am and run towards Pembroke, where the Half Marathon athletes will start at midday. The cut off time for athletes is 4:00pm in Tudor Square, Tenby.

11:20am - Half Marathon Briefing (Pembroke Castle)
All athletes must attend the pre-event safety briefing.

11:40am - Half Marathon Parade (Pembroke Castle to Main Street, Pembroke)
Half Marathon Athletes leave Pembroke Castle with Samba Band for Half Marathon Parade to Start line.

12:00pm - THE WALES HALF MARATHON (Main Street, Pembroke)
Athletes will begin The Wales Half Marathon from Main Street at midday, running towards Tenby whilst taking in the spectacular scenery. The cut off time for athletes is 4:00pm in Tudor Square, Tenby.

12:30pm - First Athlete Back (Tudor Square, Tenby)
The first athlete will be expected back on Tudor Square at approximately this time.

12:30pm - 5:00pm - Sports Massage (St Marys Church Hall, Tenby - behind the race finish)
15-20 minute massage sessions will be available.
